PANTRY PREVENTION:
OJ Guilty and Not Guilty
While orange juice has many positive health benefits, the
calcium-fortified juice can interfere with the absorption of certain
antibiotics such as Cipro, a drug commonly used for urinary and
respiratory infections. To be on the safe side, drink plain orange juice
when taking antibiotics.
Orange juice contains chemicals that act as
blood thiiners and an extra serving a day reduces stroke risk by 20%. OJ
also enhances fertility by its effect on sperm making it more likely to
find and stick to its target. OJ made from frozen concentrate conatins
up to 25% more Vitamin C than the unenriched type in a carton.
Tea-Bones: Tea drinking has long been associated with cancer prevention
and lower rates of heart disease, but researchers have recently shown
that habitual tea drinkers have increased bone strenghth and protection
against osteoporosis comapred to non- tea drinkers. (Archives of
Internal Medicine 2002, vol162,n0.9 pp1001-1006)
Bonus Pantry tip to boost your sex life:The New Blue
According to a university scientist, blueberries are nature's answer to
Viagra. Eating blueberries releases chemicals that promote changes in
the circulation that enhance a man's ability to achieve erection. Three
to four servings a week should do the trick! (Mens Health Oct 2002)

Pleasurable
Pursuits:
Exercise Your Cold Away
According to an article in the Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports
and Exercise moderately active people had fewer cold like illnesses.
Sex: No Raincoat Means a Better Mood Women who have sex without a condom
had less depression than those women who used the rubber "raincoats".
Researchers in New York attribute the mood elevation to the "feel- good"
hormones in semen that are absorbed into the woman's bloodstream.
